Robyn Evans – Director

Robyn is a modern day Western Yogi. Her classes capture the true essence of love and compassion and package it with a spirit that is both entertaining and inspiring.
Robyn’s journey began 14 years ago when she stumbled into a class being taught by Baron Baptiste. That was her awakening. She immersed herself in studies of Hatha Yoga traditions receiving certifications from Baron Baptiste and Beryl Bender Birch as well as in Pranakriya, studying with founder Yoganand Michael Carroll. She has learned and drawn inspiration from many gifted teachers – she would be remiss if she didn’t send extra special salutations out to Dana Flynn and Jasmine Tarkeshi of Laughing Lotus Yoga.
Through this all, her greatest teachings come down to this – “Tell me what it is you plan to do with your one wild and precious life.” – Mary Oliver Contact Robyn: Email: Robyn@TheSoulCenter.com Phone: 610-935-2214

Dance and Movement Faculty:
Laura and Micah Bertin

Micah and Laura Bertin, together since 1976, have been attending Group Motion workshops since the early 70s, shortly after Manfred Fischbeck and Brigitta Herrmann came to Philadelphia from Germany over 4 decades ago. The weekly “Friday Night Workshop”, now located in University City, has been a local legend since the late 60s.
Micah was a member of the dance company throughout the 70′s, touring nationally & internationally. Laura took Group Motion improv dance classes from ’74-’78 at PCA (now known as the University of the Arts), while also studying the art of mime (along w/ Micah) and has gained much of her experience on the dance floor. She brings her 35 yrs. of knowledge participating in over a thousand workshops into her expertise as a sensitive, skillful and playful facilitator. Laura is the only person to have completed the training to become a Certified Group Motion Facilitator by Manfred & Brigitta. She is honored to play an integral part in bringing it to the suburbs, having started the monthly series on The Main Line over 10 years ago, where she has lead over 100 workshops. She and Micah are thrilled to now be part of the Soul Center community.
Live, improvised music is one of the key components of the Group Motion Workshop and helps make the workshops extraordinary! That’s where Micah comes in, having started by drumming for dance classes at the University of Pennsylvania, accompanying Manfred, while also being the main “Friday Night Workshop” drummer for decades. He and music director Bill DeHaven now coordinate a roster of top-notch local musicians, creating the unique synergy that happens between them and the dancers. They feel so blessed to be able to bring this magical experience to the community…it is truly a labor of love and gives the whole “group” a feeling of such gratitude that they are given this opportunity to share something so authentic and rare, w/ themselves and so many.
No dance experience needed…Group Motion’s philosophy: If you can Walk you can Dance!
p.s. The Bertins are the proud parents of a 12 yr old son, Jeremiah, a prodigy “Drummer Boy” ! No surprise there!
